One upon a time, there was this sometimes sweet/ sometimes goofy/ most often whiny child named Logan. He loved to play with trucks, balls, and he giggled every time he saw an animal. If he didn't get his way, he threw a small fit, but mom could sometimes distract him towards things he could have or do. Despite the fact that he would drag her to the refrigerator ever ten minutes, they managed to get along all right.
Then suddenly, without warning, a horrid disease came upon Logan. Its side effects resulted in a way that this small child would no longer be enticed to sit in a shopping cart (despite bagfuls of goodies from the magic mommy purse.) He would no longer be held. His only happiness came from running off in the shopping aisles, where he'd crawl inside the toilet paper shelf, hidden behind mounds of packaged rump wipes where mom could not reach him.
He suddenly decided not to take naps or go to bed at night as he banged and kicked the bedroom door. He did find some relief with sleeping on the floor, which seemed like an odd place to be comfortable. He has not slept in his crib in a week, and has resorted to falling asleep in the bunk bed for about one hour before the he spends the rest of the night on the floor.
He appetite dwindled to nothing, yet he still wanted food every ten minutes. He would say no to every morsel mom would offer him. When he would finally choose an item, he'd exclaim "Nummy...Nummy...Nummy." As soon as mom prepared the food he had chosen, he push it away and say. "Ewwwwwwwww." He has resorted to only eating shredded wheat cereal at every meal, which in case any of you are wondering what happens when a child eats nothing but shredded wheat...picture this...... Pour a bowl of the shredded wheat, add some milk, let it sit for awhile until its nice and mooshy. Mix it up, and then picture scraping that off your child's butt with wipes. Wipes don't do the job. I think I need to get the ice scraper from the car.
The other unfortunate symptom caused his screaming to rise to high enough decibels to where he was able to communicate with dolphins.
Yes, it is sad to say, that Logan has officially began to torture his parents with the rapidly progressing infection of the Terrible Two's. It is invading his system with a force that is beyond measure.
Our sweet little boy is now a 10xs a day tantrum throwing, lung screaming, head shaking, rabid beast whose two favorite words are No at my every request, and Eww at every mealtime. Please take a moment to lament those sweet picture of Logan above, for my little boy has sadly changed into this below.

oh, melissa! i'm laughing and feeling sorry for you at the same time!
it's a good thing that the good/quite moments with the kiddos out weigh (they don't always outnumber!) the bad/crazy moments or our parents would have a hard time getting more grandbabies out of us!
Dad keeps telling me, "These are the good days!" keep telling yourself that! love you!
ps maybe you should invest in a good set of earplugs!
Hilarious story telling. I can imagine you sitting there telling the story, too! Terrible Two's are not fun, I feel for ya.
Oh my goodness-I KNOW! Kade is doing the same kinds of things. I love him, but man...its hard sometimes. Is 3 a better age? How old is Chase? You really are a captivating writer. I liked the story.
I am still laughing! I love you guys! Great story Melissa. You are a wonderful Mom - all those boys are lucky to have you.
Love you!!
Susan
